The Al-Nashal dress is characterized by its wide shape and large sleeves, typically in a square form. It is made from silk fabrics and is worn by women on significant occasions such as Eid, weddings, and henna nights. This traditional dress is usually crafted from plain silks, like “Bresim,” and vibrant fabrics in colors such as red, green, orange, and black. The Al-Nashal dress is often embroidered with gold and silver thread (“Zari”) and decorated with delicate round pieces, either golden or silver, known as “Folk.” These decorative patterns, including “Kazwah,” “Bidhana,” “Wardah,” and “Mashmooma,” are inspired by the Qatari environment. Women often wear the “Dara’a” dress under the Al-Nashal, which is a long dress with sleeves that reaches the floor. The sleeves are often wrapped around the head in a process called “Jab’a.” The Al-Nashal dress is left open at the lower edges, where it is embroidered around the neck and down to the hem.
