Mission and Vision

Arabic Calligraphy is one of the most important Creative Arts that have left their mark on Arabic and Islamic Civilizations. It is different from the Calligraphy of other cultures in that it uniquely transcends its primary mission, which is to convey meaning, towards an aesthetic mission that has become one of its most defining and beautiful features. Thus, the Arabic Art of Calligraphy has become an Independent Art, in which the features of its Arabic Identity shine through, features that have enabled generations prior to express their levels of Intellect, Science, and Civility, until Arabic Calligraphy reached an advanced stage of Creative Sophistication. So much so that it has become a beacon that many artists have drawn inspiration from throughout the ages.

Building on its vision and role in Promoting creative fields, the Ministry of Culture, driven by its vision and commitment to fostering creative fields, the Ministry of Culture is organizing an international calligraphy competition, recognizing the art form as a foundational pillar of Islamic civilization.
