Al-Hiya Biyah is a traditional practice that remains deeply rooted in the collective memory of the community. It is one of the celebratory customs performed by young girls, typically aged between 8 and 12 years. The tradition takes place on the evening of the 9th of Dhul-Hijjah, when the girls head out to the beach, swinging a basket and singing songs that reflect their care for the basket in an atmosphere of joy and celebration.
The girls then throw the basket as part of this lively cultural practice. The community plays a role in preserving and celebrating this tradition, fostering a sense of love for this heritage and encouraging future generations to engage with and continue the practice.
